My mother emailed me some work by Yang Liu, a 35-year-old Chinese-German artist. One of her projects, “East Meets West,” was first exhibited in Germany a few years ago and features pictographs representing the differences between Eastern and Western (specifically Chinese and German) cultures. I think her depictions are accurate and clever. Here are a few pieces from the series:
