A Jew’s Take on Tipping

Regarding my 6 Tidbits of Info, the Boyfriend agrees that the amount you tip at a bar or restaurant should not correlate with the tax.  Moreover, he thinks tips should not correlate with the cost of food, meaning, for example, that staff should not be paid more just because a customer ordered lobster instead of chicken, because the services rendered are the same in both cases.  He thinks there should be pre-set amounts for tips, a scale of compensation that reflects the quality of service and nothing else.

This makes so much sense I’m surprised I didn’t come up with it myself.
